Brian Matthews
Private Town Planner
I’m Brian Matthews, an experienced Brisbane-based town planner and development consultant with more than twenty years of hands-on experience in the property industry.
Throughout this time, I’ve personally prepared and managed more than 500 development applications (DAs) and reviewed thousands of sites to provide advice to people buying property. I’ve worked with and experienced the changes that come with four Planning Acts, and numerous planning scheme and policy changes. As a private town planning consultant, I’ve worked extensively in multiple property sectors, including residential, commercial, industrial, and telecommunications.
Today my company provides consulting and development services for people with property in all South-East Queensland Council areas.
Specialising in land subdivision, we assist property owners with subdivisions, from purchase through to development approval. We also project manage the construction and the issuing of new titles.
Today, town planning and development is complex, and there are multiple layers of information to consider. One of my core principles has always been how to simplify the information and process, so that our clients can understand the information presented and make confident decisions.
To help with the initial research and diligence associated with buying a property purchase, I created DD Hub.
Why DD Hub?
Finding quality information on properties has always had its challenges. Information often needs to be researched from multiple sources, cross-referenced, and interpreted.
These days many properties are marketed with a free property report or complimentary information packs. The problem is this marketing information may not always be independent, as it is produced on behalf of the seller. In other cases, the information provided within a property profile may be accurate or informative, but it glosses over critical issues that may affect a property, and therefore, your decision.
The alternative to free real estate reports is to pay a private town planner or other professional to investigate and produce a custom property information report for you. The reality is this process can be long, laborious, and expensive, for both you and the consultant. While you wait for your report to be prepared, someone else may buy the property before you are ready.
Existing websites that generate an online or automated report may be fast, cheap or even free, sometimes accurate and, in some cases, comprehensive. So, you now have a lot of property information, but if you are unable to interpret it… what then? How do you conclude what can be done with the property or what the key issues are?
